Serdar was born in 1980 in Belgium, from Turkish parents. At age 15 he knew what he wanted to become a part of the film experience. He studied film in the royal academy of arts. He directed a short film that went to festivals worldwide and that got the attention of a commercial production company. A couple of months later he directed his very first commercial, “smoke butt” that would get him noticed within the professional advertising world. That same year, along with another commercial he directed, he was shortlisted in the young directors awards in Cannes. With smoke but he won a young directors award in Cannes, and this commercial was featured in an article in shots magazine. Since then he has been directing award-winning commercials for many brands, including Volkswagen, McDonalds, Coca-Cola, Orange and many more.
