In his native South Africa Antony Hoffman became a renowned filmmaker/journalist for international press syndicates Associated Press and BBC documenting the anti-apartheid uprisings in the embattled townships around Cape Town. Fascinated by the violent human drama unfolding before him, Hoffman developed a raw unaffected visual storytelling style that has since come to define his work.
He later moved to Europe and has developed into one of the most sought after commercial directors in the world, creating many high profile global campaigns for companies such as; Nike, Motorola, Nissan, Marlboro, Visa, BMW, Siemens, Microsoft HP, AT&T, Michelin, De beers and SONY campaigns to name a few. Hoffman’s much-lauded Budweiser Super Bowl spot featuring a group of football-playing Clydesdales earned him a Gold Lion at the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival and it is now in the permanent collection at the NY museum of modern art. Between 2001 and 2005 he won numerous Andy Awards and a Clio awards and most of his ads launched on the US Super bowl event last year his FIAT ‘blue pill” ad was voted best ad at the 2015 Super bowl.
